The new Invisalign Teen™ system developed especially for teenagers, straightens teens teeth with custom-made clear aligners. This is the virtually invisible way to straighten your teen’s teeth without the restrictions that come with metal braces. Rather than wires and brackets, Invisalign® uses a series of clear, removable aligners that have been custom-made in a laboratory using advanced 3D computer imaging technology. They are worn over their teeth for 22 hours per day and changed for a new set of aligners every one or two weeks. Little by little, the teeth gradually shift into place, achieving that confident smile. You will need to visit your Orthodontist once every 6-8 weeks to ensure movement is being maintained
Invisalign can be used for teens who have erupting or erupted permanent dentition—this includes most teenagers. Common treatments are for Gaps in between teeth, Overbites caused where the upper teeth bite too far over the lower teeth, Underbites where the lower teeth bite too far in front of the upper teeth, Open bites where the front teeth fail to meet, even when the back teeth are closed together, Overcrowded teeth and Crossbite where the upper teeth bite inside the lower teeth on one or both sides of the mouth. The chances are very high that most teens will be great candidates for Invisalign
When worn according to the recommendations of an experienced Invisalign-trained orthodontist, Invisalign Teen can be as effective as traditional braces for the most common teeth-straightening issues.
A trained Invisalign orthodontist should evaluate your teen’s specific dental issues to determine candidacy. The average treatment time is usually quicker than traditional braces, with the latest technological advances, such as SmartTrack® material, smiles can be transformed up to 50% faster. The actual length of treatment depends on the severity of condition and can only be determined by your orthodontist.
